About Ms. Parfait

My name is Ms. Parfait; I have lived in Palatka since childhood. I will graduate from Saint Leo University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been working for the past three years as a paraprofessional in the classroom setting, where I have learned so much to apply to my own classroom and teaching curriculum.

I am the mommy to several fur babies I love spending time with. I enjoy crafting, reading books, and spending time with my family during my spare time.

Curriculum and objectives at Mellon Learning center

At Mellon Learning Center, i-Ready is a computer-based program that we use. This program enables educators to determine the grade level each student is on based on assessments administered throughout the year. Teachtown is also a curriculum that Mellon Learning Center uses. Teachtown is a special education curriculum software that offers students with moderate to severe disabilities equitable and inclusive access to the general education curriculum and the individualized interventions that support their success.

Just a few reminders that we are better together and communication is important!

1. I will update the blog at least once weekly. However, I will post updates on any changes in scheduled activities as they may occur.

2. If you need to reach me after hours, please email me at Aparfait@my.putnamschools.org. Be mindful that it is after hours, but I will get back to you as quickly as possible.

3. I have made a Class Apptegy Rooms account, and I will be sending home information to help you with an easy setup. You will be able to communicate with me through this app in a group communication chat or private messaging. When I post to the app, you will receive real-time notifications sent to your phone anytime I make an update! I will be sure to send photos throughout the week of our exciting learning experiences!!

4. At the end of each day, I will remind students to show parents their planners for important homework assignments and have a parent sign off that they have seen the planner.

I will be sending a packet of papers home with students on 11/8. Please make sure you fill out the questionnaire and return it ASAP. Also, there are flyers about how to access our classroom blog page and how to install the Apptegy Room app for our classroom communication and private messages.

Diversity

Our classroom is formed by diverse cultural backgrounds. It is important that all students feel welcome and comfortable in their learning environment. My goal in the classroom is to ensure that all students can feel included by practicing cultural sensitivity and incorporating diversity in my lesson plans. My number one goal is to get to know all students, maintain consistent communication, respect every student, and give students freedom and flexibility while they are in my classroom.

There are translators at the school available to assist with communication needs. I have put Google Translate directly on the blog so that you are able to access it.
